Son of God: The Movie
I, like all BibleDudes, love Bible movies. I’ll be the first to admit that most are awful, especially the New Testament ones where Jesus the hippy walks around like a zomby he’s so holy. But one that I can’t wait to see is all the buzz at the Sundance Film Festival. It’s called Son of God, and it’s the Jesus story set in occupied South Africa. The director Mark Dornford-May said “The truth is that Christ was born in an occupied state and preached equality at a time when that wasn’t very acceptable… We have to accept that Christ has been hijacked a bit — he’s gone very blond-haired and blue-eyed. The important thing about the message of Christ was that it is universal. It doesn’t matter what he looked like.”
